Vital Grabs charge in Streaming Honours Screeners

"Rango" On March. 11, Vital Pictures grew to become this year's first studio to produce a web-based screener program for honours voters. By March. 14, Visual Effects Society people should obtain online screeners of Rango, Super 8 and Constantly, via Luxurious Entertainment Services Group's platform. "The Luxurious solution enables Vital to safely stream films backed by unique watermarking from the content associated with the person readers with DVD quality picture along with a controlled window of availability," states Vital's release. Tech-savvy VES people can enjoy back the flicks on PC and Apple computers, iPads, and entertainment systems with compatible High-definition multimedia interface connections. The studio states it's the "first digital streaming program for honours challengers." Awesome! But wait one minute -- didn't Fox Searchlight break a tech barrier last Jan. 7 by putting Black Swan, 127 Hrs and Conviction on iTunes for nearly 100,000 SAG people to see on the their iPad, apple iphone, ipod device touch, MAC or PC, or Apple TV? Adopted not much later on iTunes by Focus Features' The Children Are Right and Vital's The Fighter? Lionsgate, The new sony, and also the Weinstein Company arrived at SAG voters via iTunes, too. Exactly why is the Vital/Luxurious program different? "iTunes enables for any download not streaming," notes a Vital representative. Vital has certainly grabbed a significant digital beachhead earlier within the honours season than anybody yet. Expect more streaming screeners for additional voter groups. [Professionals] discuss how economical it had been [to transmit screeners electronically]." But physical DVD screeners won't be completely changed by digital screeners immediately.
